Our children’s cardiac nurse specialist team are senior nurses who have considerable experience in caring for children with heart conditions. They are able to offer parents and children support, advice and education in different ways.
Our nurses can:
– Provide information about your child’s condition or the procedure or surgery they may require. offer advice on concerns you may have about their heart condition before and following treatment or surgery. – Advise health visitors, community nurses, teachers and school nurses about your child’s heart condition. – Refer your child to other professionals, charities and support groups in the hospital or the community who can help (for example, play therapists, children’s psychologists, dieticians, and children’s community nurses). – Help your child (from the age of 12 years up) to understand their heart condition and how it may impact their lifestyle as they get older.
Our nurse specialists have an answerphone during the week (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm).
